be creative? i’m scared.
This is part of a conversation I recently had on facebook chat with a friend. They told me it needed to be posted for everyone, so here you go :-D
“… it’s one reason that i’m attempting to start writing/record new songs, dusting off the book idea, and things like that. One thing we teach our students at g8way is that the phrase, “the world tells us that …” is a load of crap. That if we claim Christ as our own, it’s not the world trying to tell us anything, it’s “Satan tell us that …” since he get’s a run of things here. Tying that into the creativity thing, when we think about everything that has been “invented or created” by humans, it obviously hasn’t all been made by Christ followers, so it makes you wonder about what we value and how intimidated or scared we are to pursue our creativity in Him because it doesn’t “fit in” the grand scheme of things the way they are.”
That is a small portion of the conversation that took place. It is however the focus of what was discussed. Why do we claim Christ as our own, saying that He is our “Only”, yet if something doesn’t fit in with what TV, movies, what or whoever tells us is “right” we give up on the dreams that God has placed into our hearts?
